Nancy Pelosi: The Democrats? $43-million weapon

Spinners and Winners

Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., became the most powerful woman in American history when she was sworn in as Speaker of the House in 2007. She lost that power four years later and is now hell-bent on winning it back. Spinners and Winners caught up with Pelosi on her early morning power walk by the Potomac River.

The 72-year-old grandmother shows no signs of slowing down as she briskly walks along the paved paths of Georgetown's waterfront park and sums up her goal for the year with these words: "Just win, baby."

"They have endless money, secret, undisclosed, special interest money that they pour into elections," a slightly out-of-breath Pelosi said of Republican opponents. "But I think we can offset it. We have out-raised them, out-redistricted them, out-recruited them."

Pelosi has been a veritable fundraising machine, raising more than $43 million for Democrats in this election cycle and attending nearly 500 fundraisers. The Democratic leader has put her heart and soul into winning back the house for Democrats, but she insists she is motivated by more than winning back the Speaker's gavel.

"It isn't about me, it is about what is at stake in this election and quite frankly I wish that so much were not at stake in this election."

Pelosi also had some harsh words for fellow progressive Russ Feingold, who recently accused her of not doing enough to protect Social Security and Medicare. Check it out on this week's Spinners and Winners.

Justin Bieber, Saturday Night Live Celebrate 100 Digital Shorts

Justin Bieber helped Andy Samberg and Jorma Taccone celebrate their 100th Digital Short this weekend on Saturday Night Live, but the teenager immediately regretted doing so after he learned just how the pair planned on touting the feat.

"Tonight we are celebrating our 100th short," Samberg sings in the following video. "Congratulations to us, truly a major milestone. Guess what we're going to do? Tonight, we're gonna suck our own c-ck."

Wait... what?!? Justin responds.

At various points, former Digital Short stars such as Natalie Portman, Michael Bolton and Jon Hamm also showed up.

So did Justin Timberlake, who, of course, is responsible for the most memorable edition of all-time. In case you forgot, we have four words for you: D-ck in a Box.

Host Will Ferrell joined in the festivities as well, concluding the video with: "I do endorse this song. My name is Will Ferrell and I'm sucking my own dong."

LightSquared officially files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy

cell tower

As expected, May 14th is indeed a dark day for LightSquared. The company has just filed paperwork in order to initiate Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings in Manhattan's US Bankruptcy Court, effectively killing its dream of providing a high-speed mobile wireless network to upwards of 260 million people. Not quite a year after Sprint and LightSquared put together an agreement that would ensure 15 years of blissful LTE enjoyment together, Philip Falcone's baby looks weaker than ever. With the Sprint tie-up now void, and over $1.6 billion in debt, there's probably not too many places for LS to turn. The primary hurdle -- one it never could seem to overcome -- was the FCC's outright refusal to believe any of the company's mitigation proposals in relation to GPS interference issues. Despite "profoundly disagreeing" and raising all sorts of chaos in an effort to get its way, LightSquared never did manage to convince the powers that mattered. Where it turns from here is anyone's guess, but it won't be a quiet fall from grace, we're surmising.

James Wilks, TUF winner and UFC veteran, retires after warns of possible paralysis

"The Ultimate Fighter" season nine winner James Wilks announced his retirement from MMA after doctors advised him he could become paralyzed if he continued to fight.

Wilks had a serious knee injury that kept him out of the Octagon. His last bout was a loss to Claude Patrick in October of 2010. When that healed, a neck injury from his rugby-playing days flared up and Wilks realized how serious previous warning signs were.

"I had problems in a couple of the fights that I didn't really talk about," he said. "In one of the fights, I got hit, and the whole left side of my body went numb, all the way down to the toes."

Even with the doctor's warnings, Wilks called the decision difficult, particularly because he went out on a loss. He went 1-2 in the UFC after beating DaMarques Johnson in the TUF finale. As more fighters age, they will be faced with the issue of retirement. Kudos to Wilks for being strong enough to walk away before he was damaged permanently.

Ashley Tisdale and Scott Speer: Back Together?

Sorry, fellas. But Ashley Tisdale and her buttocks remain committed to one man.

Following reports in December that she had split from Scott Speer, E! News is now reporting that the actress and her music video-directing boyfriend are actually going strong.

There may have been a lull at some point, but Tisdale and Speer have been spotted out multiple times recently, with one source saying they spent all of last weekend together as a "coming out" to prove they were, indeed, back together.
